Abstract

In this paper we study a MAP/P H/1 retrial queueing model in which the server is subject to taking vacations and serving at a lower rate during vacation. The service is returned to normal rate whenever the vacation gets over. If an arriving customer finds the server busy he joins a finite buffer. If the buffer is also full he joins a pool of unsatisfied customers called orbit. There from he makes retrial for a place in the server or buffer. Inter-retrial times are exponentially distributed with intensity independent of the number of customers in the orbit. The model is analyzed in steady state using matrix analytic methods. Illustrative numerical examples are presented.
